Zazen & Kinhin

• Seiho Mudo Morris

Zazen is Japanese for "sitting Zen" or "Zen sitting" and is our core practice.  The How to Sit in Zazen page on the Zen Center of Los Angeles site describes the the basic physical and mental posture. In a secular context, zazen is popular as a simple technique for cultivating focused attention, awareness of oneself, and general stability. Beyond this, Zen Buddhist teachings recognize zazen as nothing less than the embodiment of the awakened mind.

Kinhin is Japanese for "walking meditation".

Instruction in zazen fundamentals is available by appointment through the San Luis Obispo Zen Circle or at the Zen Center of Los Angeles.
